SHEQ Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a SHEQ Specialist to join our organization. The ideal candidate will have a background in occupational health and safety or environmental fields, through hands-on work experience or academic study.

The SHEQ Specialist will collaborate with various departments to foster a culture of SHEQ excellence throughout the organization.

Responsibilities:
  • Identify potential hazards, risks, and environmental impacts in the workplace; report on internal systems and recommend control measures.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, environmental assessments, and audits to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Provide training to employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and quality issues, and develop corrective actions.
  • Monitor workplace conditions to prevent occupational health issues and promote employee well-being.
  • Ensure compliance with local and regional regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address SHEQ concerns.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and conduct drills as needed.
  • Promote a culture of SHEQ excellence throughout the organization.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance SHEQ processes.
Qualifications:
  • A qualification in Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental fields is an advantage.
  • Proven experience as an EHS Officer or in a similar role, preferably in a high-risk industry.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify hazards, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to train employees and collaborate across departments.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software.
