Cancer Treatment Specialist Role Overview

The Cancer Treatment Specialist will be responsible for delivering and preparing treatment plans for patients with cancer diagnoses or other benign conditions requiring radiotherapy.

This position requires providing psychosocial support throughout the treatment course, ensuring adherence to radiation safety regulations and assessing the quality of work on a continuous basis.

The ideal candidate will possess leadership qualities and be able to efficiently manage workflow within their designated clinical area.

  • Maintains a caring atmosphere for patients, visitors, medical staff, and co-workers consistently.
  • Administers radiation treatments according to written prescription and treatment plan, ensuring patient safety through consistent practice of Departmental Procedures for treatment administration.
  • Recognises deviations from prescribed treatment delivery and reports all deviations to the Physics team.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and administering radiation treatments according to prescribed protocols.
  • Monitoring patient reactions and communicating effectively with medical and nursing staff.
  • Documenting treatment records accurately and maintaining high-quality treatment delivery.

Key qualifications and experience:

  • Completion of a qualification in Radiation Therapy recognised by CORU at Radiographers Registration Board.
  • Maintenance of annual registration with CORU.
  • A minimum of 2 years full-time post-qualification clinical experience.

This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
