Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Nurse
Our clinic is seeking a part-time veterinary nurse to join our dedicated team. This role offers the chance to make a real difference for patients in critical need.
The successful candidate will be a registered veterinary nurse with a minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience, ideally with a background in emergency or referral practice.
- Part-time contract (3-day week)
- Night shifts every third week (Monday-Wednesday nights)
- Reporting to the Lead Vet
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional care for critically ill and injured animals
- Monitor vital signs, assess pain levels, and administer appropriate treatments
- Assist vets during emergency procedures
- Triage emergency cases and prioritize based on severity
- Administer medications, fluids, and nutritional support under veterinary supervision
- Assist with anesthesia and post-operative recovery care
Essential Criteria:
- Current registration with the Veterinary Council of Ireland
- At least 5 years small animal nursing experience
- Strong clinical and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and work independently
Desirable Qualifications:
- Postgraduate qualifications in ECC
- Previous experience in a busy emergency or referral hospital
- Keen interest in night and weekend emergency work

- Self-motivated and trustworthy
- High standards of clinical care and personal presentation
