Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Farm Operations Manager to oversee the daily activities of our fully housed beef finishing unit.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity for an individual with a passion for animal welfare and productivity to take ownership of our beef enterprise.

  • Daily management of beef cattle in a fully housed system, ensuring optimal health and well-being.
  • Implementation of feeding operations using zero-grazing equipment, focusing on efficient food distribution.
  • Monitoring of live weight gains and animal performance, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Maintenance of high standards in hygiene and welfare practices, adhering to industry best practices.
  • Conducting regular animal health checks and reporting any issues promptly to ensure timely interventions.
  • Undertaking general farm duties, machinery operation, and tractor driving as required.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily cattle management, including feeding, monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Implement effective feeding strategies using zero-grazing equipment.
  • Monitor and analyze live weight gains and animal performance data.
  • Maintain excellent hygiene standards and welfare practices throughout the farm.
  • Conduct regular animal health checks and report any issues promptly.
  • Prioritize general farm duties, machinery operation, and tractor driving tasks as needed.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience working with livestock, preferably in a housed beef system.
  • Strong attention to detail, with a focus on animal welfare and cleanliness.
  • Competent tractor and machinery operator with a strong understanding of farm operations.
  • Able to work independently, managing time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technology-driven farming systems.
