We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Manager to join our Energy and Natural Resources team in Dublin.

The Opportunity

This role is ideal for a professional with extensive experience of working on large, complex capital projects.

Owing to the nature of these projects, the successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering cost management strategies and implementing effective budgeting systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement cost control strategies to ensure accurate forecasting and financial reporting
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, and governance papers, providing timely and relevant financial information to stakeholders
  • Implement and administer cost control systems and procedures to track project budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts
  • Support the change process by providing cost information for change notices and to underpin forecasts
  • Collaborate with the risk team to identify potential risks and their financial impacts
  • Develop and maintain relationships with interfacing disciplines, including finance, commercial, and project managers, to ensure alignment of project information
  • Provide regular updates on cost control initiatives and financial performance
  • Identify trends and variances to budgets and forecasts through financial analysis and provide recommendations to support effective decision making
  • Develop reporting tools and generate cost reports on a regular basis
  • Lead financial reporting for regulatory submissions
  • Train and coach less experienced team members on cost control processes and practices
Requirements:
  • Qualification in Quantity Surveying or equivalent with 10+ years' experience in cost management on large capital projects
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver cost management tasks in a timely and accurate manner
  • Proficient in MS Office (all packages) and knowledge of project financial and cost management systems
  • Strong commercial background and financial awareness, including monitoring and co-ordination of budgets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong analytical ability
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise, and work well under pressure to meet established deadlines
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with high personal motivation and energy
  • Excellent attention to detail to track costs and financial reporting
  • Experience working with complex data sets and performing cost benefit analysis
  • Good understanding of project governance and regulatory reporting
  • Ability to develop long-term relationships with team members and balance people and processes effectively
  • Previous experience of managing resources, including mentoring of more junior staff members
