Mortgage Loan Officer Job Description

• Originate loan products and develop internal and external referral sources to generate new mortgage lending business.

• Interview applicants, request specific information for mortgage loan application.
• Serve as primary contact with all parties on individual loans originated from application to closing.
• Counsel and pre-qualify potential home buyers, complete applications, and obtain necessary support documents.
• Oversee loan process by monitoring loan status and ensuring conformity with terms.
• Obtain loan documentation prior to closing, assist in collecting additional documents, and communicate loan status to all parties.
• Analyze applicant financial status, credit, and property evaluation to determine feasibility of granting loan.
• Work with underwriting to ensure all questions are answered and/or to resolve mortgage related problems.

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent with minimum 1-3 years of residential real estate experience.
• Applicants must possess an NMLS license.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent analytic skills, attention to detail, and ability to work within time constraints.
• Excellent level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
• Excellent knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, and VA product guidelines.
