Job Description

We are seeking an experienced employment lawyer to join our Legal Team as a Director, Global Employment Counsel. This role will involve leading the Global Employment & Business Affairs team, providing strategic legal guidance on employment law issues, and collaborating with other teams across the company to define, develop, and maintain employment-related policies and procedures. The successful candidate will have a strong background in labor and employment law, excellent communication skills, and the ability to distill complex legal concepts into simple, actionable recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a global team of employment legal professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture
  • Provide strategic legal guidance and counseling on a broad spectrum of employment law issues, including employee relations, performance management, internal investigations, compensation and benefits, talent acquisition, culture initiatives, and employee data privacy
  • Partner with Klaviyo's People team to evaluate, develop, and maintain employment and HR policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Draft and review employment-related agreements and templates
  • Support global legal strategies and partner with local counsel to advise on international employment issues
  • Manage employment-related litigation, internal investigations, and other employment-related inquiries
  • Conduct audits, employment classification reviews, and support other compliance efforts
  • Monitor important developments in employment law in the jurisdictions Klaviyo operates in globally
