Responsibilities:
The main duties of the post include:
- Ensuring accurate interpretation, administration, and application of pension schemes.
- Interpreting correspondence from relevant authorities, preparing recommendations, and taking action as necessary.
- Developing and maintaining pension records and registers.
- Ensuring sanctioned salary adjustments are applied to pension contributions and pensions.
- Implementing approved incentivized retirement schemes.
- Providing an advisory service to staff, pensioners, and managers.
- Maintaining the annual retirement program and supporting the Active Retirement Group.
Financial Matters:
The pension manager is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all pension payments. They should keep directors informed of all pension payments and produce regular projections and costings for anticipated retirements.
Staff Development:
The pension manager is responsible for ensuring the development of staff in the pension section, including initial and ongoing training, succession planning, performance management, and designing, implementing, and continuously developing systems and processes.
Qualifications and Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need a good knowledge of the health service environment, including national HR policy. You will also require strong communication skills, a working knowledge of IT packages, and proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of applications. A third-level qualification in finance or pensions, or equivalent experience, is desirable.
