Job Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Data Platform Engineer to design, build, and support data services and ingestion related to a comprehensive knowledge graph. This graph aims to unify insights on data processing—job telemetry, SLA expectation and attainment, data quality, infra incidents—using job lineage to build a predictive view of data processing health across Apple Services data engineering.


As a key team member, you will apply your expertise in data systems to contribute to the development of ingestion services feeding and managing data in the knowledge graph (a graph database). You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify new ways to classify and represent data via workflow enhancements, increasing insight available from the graph.


Our goal is to leverage graph-based insights to power operational excellence by capturing production issues, driving analysis, guiding resolution, and enabling proactive avoidance of future incidents.


Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes and Apache Airflow.
  • Proficiency in SQL, relational databases, NoSQL databases, and ORM tooling.
  • Familiarity with Apache Spark and Kafka.
  • Collaborative skills to work with cross-functional teams to leverage new technologies and improve organizational efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

A successful candidate should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience working with graph databases and/or ontologies.
  • Programming skills in Python and/or Scala.
  • A willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and workflows.
