Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

About the Job:
Central Engineering is seeking a highly skilled EHS Project Lead to manage the development and implementation of environmental, health, and safety protocols for a large-scale data center and high-voltage infrastructure project.
This role requires strong leadership skills, experience in managing complex projects, and a deep understanding of EHS regulations and best practices.
The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, operations, and subcontractor teams to uphold the highest safety standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- EHS Project Leadership
Develop and implement comprehensive EHS strategies, aligning with company policies and industry standards.
Lead site-specific risk assessments to ensure safe project delivery, collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop mitigation plans.
Establish and maintain robust EHS management systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Regulatory Compliance and Auditing
Ensure compliance with all relevant EHS regulations, acting as the primary point of contact for regulatory authorities.
Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and site walk-throughs, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
Manage EHS documentation, including risk assessments, safety audits, incident reports, and environmental monitoring records.
- Incident Management and Emergency Preparedness
Investigate incidents promptly, conducting thorough root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
Develop and execute emergency response plans, ensuring all personnel are trained and equipped to respond effectively.
Coordinate safety drills and emergency team briefings to ensure preparedness and response readiness.
- Contractor and Workforce Safety Management
Provide guidance and support to contractors, ensuring alignment with company EHS standards and project-specific requirements.
Deliver EHS training and induction programs, ensuring new personnel understand safety protocols, equipment use, and emergency procedures.
Promote a positive safety culture, fostering open communication and encouraging continuous improvement suggestions.
- Environmental Stewardship
Lead environmental impact assessments, ensuring projects comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Implement sustainability initiatives, including energy efficiency, waste management, and pollution control, aligned with company goals.
Ensure compliance with environmental permits and reporting requirements, minimizing the project's ecological footprint.
- Continuous Improvement and Lean Integration
Apply Lean and Continuous Improvement principles to enhance EHS processes, embedding best practices into project operations.
Collaborate with the project team to identify opportunities for reducing safety risks and improving environmental performance, driving project success and on-time delivery.
