
Facilities Engineer

This key position is responsible for supporting the engineering management team in delivering a site-wide maintenance strategy by working closely with leads and teams.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee the daily operations of the engineering maintenance team.
- Lead the delivery of the group maintenance strategy through effective team leadership.
- Direct a team of skilled engineers to exceed key performance indicators, focusing on proactive maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with current health and safety legislation and promote a safe working environment.
- Achieve machine availability of 95%+ and ensure 98% compliance with planned preventative maintenance schedules.
- Plan and schedule maintenance activities in collaboration with production teams.
- Support root cause analysis and implement solutions to prevent recurring failures.
- Engage in continuous improvement activities to identify and resolve operational issues.
- Communicate relevant information effectively across departments and the business.
- Collaborate with engineering and production management on maintenance matters.
- Conduct technical reviews with managers and engineers; liaise with suppliers.
- Identify training needs within the team and coordinate development activities.
- Maintain accurate asset data, documentation, and system backups.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives with experienced engineers.
- Develop and train staff on standard operating procedures.
- Apply risk assessments to prioritise maintenance tasks.
- Manage team attendance and timekeeping via tracking systems.
- Handle team conflicts and disciplinary matters in line with company policies.
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in mechanical or electrical engineering.
- Minimum three years' management experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven leadership skills with a track record of driving change and delivering results.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance and project management principles.
- Systematic approach to health and safety, environmental management, and asset maintenance.
- Passion for continuous improvement and adaptability to changing circumstances.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills.
- Proficient in maintenance management software, project management tools, and technical drawings.
- Skilled in problem-solving techniques (e.g. MBR, 5 WHY, FMECA).
- Competent in Microsoft office applications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to influence cross-functional teams.
