Job Description

Sustainability Professional - Environmental Stewardship Role

This is an exciting opportunity which involves working across the organisation and driving sustainability initiatives.

The role plays a key function in maintaining programmes related to environmental, social and economic responsibility.

The individual will conduct thorough sustainability analysis and evaluations to identify key impact areas, establish measurable objectives, and define performance indicators for continuous improvement.

They will drive sustainability initiatives across the organisation, keeping it a leader in ESG, minimising environmental impact and maximising positive human and community influence.

The role assists the organisation in operating towards a carbon zero business, supplying a low carbon product in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development, execution, and monitoring of comprehensive sustainability strategies in alignment with the organisation's ESG vision, mission, and core values.
  • Partnering with cross-functional teams to identify and implement initiatives that reduce waste, conserve energy, and lower carbon emissions across operations.
  • Overseeing the organisation's ESG risk assessment through Materiality Analysis, prioritising the most significant environmental, social, and governance issues.
  • Coordinating Life Cycle Assessments to quantify and reduce the carbon footprint of products and operations.
  • Leading internal and external assessments, audits, and site inspections to ensure compliance with sustainability standards.
  • Supporting community-focused sustainability initiatives, including school-based environmental programs.
  • Supporting and driving sustainability in the supply chain.
  • Staying up-to-date with emerging global ESG reporting frameworks, risk management, and voluntary standards.
  • Driving ESG awareness and training programs within the organisation, with customers, suppliers, and local community.
  • Developing a Greenhouse Gas Inventory Management Plan to collect direct and indirect emissions produced by the organisation over a year.
  • Preparing and publishing accurate corporate sustainability reports that reflect ongoing environmental and social commitments.

Requirements:

  • Third level professional qualification in Engineering, Environmental or Sustainability discipline.
  • At least 1-2 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Familiarity with ESG and sustainability reporting requirements.
  • Professional reporting expertise to publication standard.
  • Data Management skills.
  • Experience and knowledge of ISO standards.
  • Project Management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team.
