Sr. Operations Manager Transport

We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Operations Manager to oversee the safe, efficient and compliant operation of a large fleet of vehicles across the Munster Region.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of transport services across the Munster Region, ensuring timely operations and managing resources effectively.
  • Oversee regional logistics offices in Cork and Waterford, supporting local managers and driving operational excellence.
  • Plan, schedule, and monitor resources to optimize vehicle utilization, ensuring maximum efficiency.
  • Maintain compliance with road worthiness standards, collaborating closely with engineering teams.
  • Manage recruitment, training, and performance of drivers and operational staff, promoting a culture of safety.
  • Maintain contractor relationships and ensure compliance with documentation standards.
  • Conduct regular fleet audits and ensure minimum compliance checks are met.
  • Manage procurement processes, aligning with central procedures.
  • Continuously review route networks to drive efficiency.
  • Submit operational reports to senior leadership, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Promptly address operational incidents, ensuring compliance with policies.
  • Respond professionally to stakeholder and customer queries.

Requirements:

  • Proven management experience in transport or fleet operations, with a strong track record of success.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of transport legislation and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data reporting tools.
  • Experience with route planning, vehicle scheduling, and resource optimization.
  • Familiarity with transport management systems, such as SAP or Trapeze.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Commitment to safety, sustainability and operational excellence.
