Senior Social Care Assistant

As a Senior Social Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive and nurturing environment that fosters a strong sense of home for our residents.
Main Duties:- Provide a range of activities to stimulate residents' physical and mental well-being, promoting social interaction and community engagement.
- Treat residents with respect, dignity, and compassion, upholding their philosophy of privacy, independence, and choice.
- Support and guide the residents' committee, ensuring their input and involvement in activity planning and decision-making.
- Assess residents' social care needs and maintain accurate records, updating information as necessary.
- Collaborate with staff to provide 'This is Me' booklets, memory boxes, and name plates, promoting residents' sense of identity and ownership.
- Stay informed about new developments in older person care, applying best practices to our services.
- Foster positive relationships with the local community, managing volunteer programs in accordance with our centre's policies.
- Contribute to organizing special events, such as summer parties and coffee mornings, promoting social connections and community engagement.
- A degree in Gerontology or Social Care, or equivalent qualifications such as QQI/FETAC Level 5.
- Experience supporting teams in social interaction and resident well-being.
- A strong track record in older person care, with knowledge and experience.
- A good understanding of HIQA standards.
- Experience in Dementia Care.
