Checkout Manager Role

This is a dynamic position in a busy retail grocery environment. The successful candidate will oversee the management of a checkout department, ensuring its smooth operation on a day-to-day basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overall supervision and management of a busy checkout department.
  • Effective rostering for a team of up to 8/10 people when on duty.
  • Managing queue flow to minimize waiting times.
  • Ensuring all staff have the necessary tools to complete their roles.
  • Providing excellent customer service at the customer service desk.
  • Overseeing the store end of the home delivery service.
  • Maintaining departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Developing and implementing effective training programs for staff.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years experience as a checkout manager/supervisor within a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Experience working in a Super Valu/Centra property would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Capacity to work effectively in a team and independently.
