Senior Staff Applications Verification Specialist

We are seeking a Senior Staff Applications Verification Engineer for our IC product line. This role involves collaborating with applications, verification, design, firmware and systems architecture teams to ensure the robustness, specification compliance and suitability for volume production of Vishay's proprietary power devices.

This position is located in Cork, Ireland. The successful candidate will develop and own pre-silicon HW emulation and IC evaluation plans. They will also design verification IP that enables portability between UVM pre-silicon verification environments, FPGA-based HW emulation platforms and final silicon.

Additionally, the engineer will be responsible for system performance evaluation of candidate designs for IC tapeout. They will deliver and complete HW emulation test-plans prior to IC tapeouts and benchmark FPGA and IC applications performance against customer requirements/specifications.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of power systems and insight into performance improvements and optimizations. They will have excellent debug and analytical skills for root cause identification of issues in FPGA or IC environments.

The Verification Engineer will also experience supporting product applications teams and responding to customer issues. They will manage a structured, organized lab environment and possess excellent organizational, planning and communications skills.

Lastly, the engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams and international partners, mentoring less experienced team members and supporting career development within the organization.

• Develop and be accountable for pre-silicon HW emulation and IC Evaluation plans.
• Design verification IP that enables portability between UVM pre-silicon verification environments, FPGA-based HW emulation platforms and final silicon.
• Evaluate system performance of candidate designs for IC tapeout.
• Deliver and complete HW emulation test-plans prior to IC tapeouts.
• Benchmark FPGA and IC applications performance against customer requirements/specifications.
• Develop methodologies and procedures to ensure high levels of data discipline to support HW platform robustness, repeatability of bench-level testing and quality of results.
• Develop lab-based automation for instrument control, HW platform control, data collection and results analysis.
• Design, develop and maintain HW platforms to support IC designs.
• Test protocol compliance of proprietary digital communications interfaces.
• Verify digital protocol interfaces for full specification compliance.
• Manage project progress against key milestones; project management, planning and status tracking.

• PhD, post-graduate or degree qualification in Electronic Engineering or similar.
• 10+ years' relevant engineering experience.
• Experience and knowledge of power conversion.
• Extensive experience in the development and ownership of design evaluation plans.
• Experience in HW emulation as a tool for pre-silicon verification of IC designs.
• Development of FPGA-based IC verification plans to support UVM verification.
• Performance and completeness verification of designs on FPGA platforms prior to IC tapeouts.
• Deep understanding of power systems and insight into performance improvements and optimizations.
• Excellent debug and analytical skills for root cause identification of issues in FPGA or IC environments.
• Experience supporting product applications teams and responding to customer issues.
• Experience in management of a structured, organized lab environment.
• Excellent organizational, planning and communications skills; ability to work with cross-functional teams and international partners; mentoring abilities.
