
Clinical Healthcare Specialist

The team leader will manage and coordinate the HIPE department on a day-to-day basis. They will be responsible for validation of daily downloads, development of Activity Based Funding (ABF), and management of departmental staff.
They will also assist and support the induction, training, and support of new coders. Ensuring regular use of data quality tools is essential, as well as working closely with DNE HIPE Manager and HIPE Department manager regarding data quality, training, and audit activities to optimize HIPE data for use at hospital and group level.
The team leader will generate regular and ad hoc reports from HIPE Reporter as needed and develop departmental SOPs in conjunction with the HIPE Manager. Liaising with IT Department and HPO to ensure efficient operation of HIPE software and address any coding queries returned to the Hospital from the Hospital Pricing Office.
Responsibilities:

Requirements:
- Professional Qualifications: Certification in Clinical Coding and minimum 5 years' experience in clinical coding including working in a hospital setting
- Knowledge of Irish and Australian coding standards, ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS
- Expert knowledge of HIPE portal and its functions
- Good administrative capacity and ability to discharge grade functions
- Excellent Microsoft office skills, including Excel

Qualifications: Mandatory qualifications include eligibility based on satisfactory experience as a Clerical Officer in the HSE or equivalent, completion of a relevant examination at a comparable standard, or holding a comparable and relevant third-level qualification.
Age: Candidate must be under 65 years of age on the first day of the month in which the latest date for receiving completed application forms occurs.
Health: Candidates must be fully competent and capable of undertaking duties attached to the office and be in a state of health that indicates a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
Character: Candidates must be of good character.
