Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct high-resolution measurements of carbon exchange across multiple peatlands using state-of-the-art equipment, including LI-7810 infrared trace gas analysers and static chambers.
  • Collect soil and water samples in accordance with established scientific protocols, including the extraction of peat cores using a peat auger.
  • Ensure the preservation, labelling, and chain-of-custody documentation of all samples prior to transport to accredited laboratories.

Assist in the preparation of technical reports and presentations to fulfil reporting requirements under PCAS schemes and other projects.

Utilise data analysis tools, such as Excel, R Statistical Software Package, and Python, to provide valuable insights and support to stakeholders.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A level 8+ qualification in Environmental Science/Management, Physics, Engineering, or a related scientific subject.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a technical role.
  • A strong understanding of natural GHG exchange, including biogeochemical controls on CO2 and CH4 fluxes in peatlands.
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills.
