Urology Expert Care Specialist
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist in Urology to join our team.
The role involves providing expert clinical care, emotional support, education, and care coordination for patients with urological conditions across the continuum of care.
This position plays a pivotal part in enhancing patient outcomes, streamlining multidisciplinary collaboration, and ensuring high-quality service delivery aligned with national standards and values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Practice:
- Act as an autonomous practitioner managing a caseload of patients with urological conditions, including malignancies.
- Provide specialist nursing care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
- Serve as a keyworker for patients, offering continuity and coordination throughout their treatment journey.
- Attend and contribute to urology outpatient clinics, including PSA clinics and diagnostic consultations.
- Liaise with multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) to ensure seamless patient pathways and timely interventions.
- Patient Support & Advocacy:
- Offer emotional support and education to patients and their families/carers.
- Advocate for patients, helping them understand their diagnosis and treatment options.
- Provide information on available resources, including palliative care and community services.
- Quality & Audit:
- Participate in clinical audits and service evaluations to improve care delivery.
- Contribute to research initiatives and quality improvement projects.
- Ensure accurate documentation and data entry into relevant systems (e.g., cancer registries).
Requirements:
- Diploma/Degree in Nursing
- Full registration with the NMBI (NMBI Pin)
- Full rights to work in Ireland without sponsorship
- Postgraduate course in Urology
- 3.5 years postgraduate experience in an acute hospital setting
- Current or recent experience working in urology
