Hydraulic Modeller Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Hydraulic Modeller to join our team. The role involves working on various projects, developing computer models, and investigating environmental problems.

The successful candidate will have a degree in Engineering, Geography, GIS or a science-related subject and good analytical skills. They will also have the ability to learn quickly and work towards professional qualifications.

The team is collaborative and multi-disciplinary, providing water and wastewater infrastructure services alongside drainage design, SuDS and surface water management. We have a wide variety of clients across the UK and internationally, including water companies, local authorities, highways / rail authorities, and developers.

Key Responsibilities

  • To develop computer models to investigate flooding and environmental problems and generate outline solutions with a focus on sustainability and environmental compliance.
  • Build, verification and analysis of hydraulic sewer models outputs.
  • Data handling and analysis.
  • Use of GIS software (such as MapInfo & ArcGIS) to support our understanding of complex environmental problems.
  • Development of reports and other project deliverables.
  • Survey planning and survey supervision.

Requirements

  • BSc/BEng/MEng degree level in Engineering, Geography, GIS or a science-related subject (other equivalents can be considered).
  • Mathematics and English at GCSE/SN5 or equivalent (or higher) Grade C / 5 and above.
  • An interest in the water environment and sustainability and desire to apply your skills to the challenges the environment faces.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
