About the Role

As a Data Governance Specialist within our Smart Metering Operations Centre (SMOC), you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and availability of smart metering services. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain all data owned and processed by SMOC, ensuring it is handled in accordance with relevant legislation and company policies.

The Designated Data Owner role resides within the System Governance pillar, reporting directly to the SMOC System Governance Lead. You will work closely with the ESB Networks Data Steward and ESB Data Protection Office to ensure processes involving personal data are identified, documented, and comply with GDPR requirements.

Your Key Responsibilities

* Ensure rights of access to all relevant data are regularly reviewed and updated as necessary
* Catalogue and classify all data processed by SMOC according to relevant policies and procedures
* Engage with stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks associated with sensitive data
* Conduct audits and compliance checks to ensure adherence to legislative and business requirements
* Develop and maintain documentation related to data management, classification, collection, storage, and usage

Requirements

We are seeking an experienced professional with at least 3 years of postgraduate experience in a related field. Your expertise should include working with data protection laws and regulations, such as GDPR, as well as experience in data management and governance.

You must possess strong communication and report-writing skills, with the ability to understand and solve problems in a collaborative manner. Proven capability to deliver results under pressure and manage multiple priorities is essential. Strong interpersonal skills, including relationship building and influencing, are also required.
