Job Overview

This role involves working as a leader in a residential setting for children and young people. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering care packages tailored to individual needs, acting as a shift leader, supporting colleagues, mentoring staff, and working closely with management to uphold standards and ensure the house runs smoothly.


This is a senior frontline position with leadership responsibilities and a strong emphasis on child-centred care. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable young people and contribute to their growth and development.



Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support your team during shifts, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among staff members.
  • Design and implement Placement and Crisis Management Plans, taking into account the unique needs and circumstances of each child or young person.
  • Provide educational support to children in and out of school, fostering a love of learning and helping them reach their full potential.
  • Engage in direct residential care to meet identified needs, promoting physical and emotional well-being, and providing a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Record and document all client interactions and activities, maintaining accurate and comprehensive records.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents, social workers, and external agencies, keeping them informed of progress and any concerns.
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings, strategic planning, and policy implementation, sharing your expertise and contributing to decision-making processes.
  • Monitor health and safety, and ensure compliance across the unit, adhering to relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Support relief staff, trainees, and student placements, providing guidance and mentorship to help them develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Participate in housekeeping duties and general maintenance, contributing to a clean and comfortable living environment.
  • Assume Managerial duties in your absence, ensuring continuity and smooth operation of the service.
  • Manage finances, petty cash reconciliation, and reporting, exercising financial responsibility and accountability.
  • Uphold confidentiality, professional standards, and company values, maintaining the trust and confidence of service users and stakeholders.
  • Encourage open communication and whistleblowing in line with policy, creating a culture of transparency and accountability within the organization.


Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A minimum Level 7 qualification in Social Care or a related field that meets the criteria to be registered as a Social Care Worker with CORU.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working directly with children/young people in a social care setting, preferably in a residential context.
  • Experience leading teams and working in therapeutic care models (e.g. Therapeutic Crisis Intervention), applying evidence-based practices to promote positive outcomes.
  • Familiarity with National Standards in Children's Residential Centres, understanding the regulatory framework and best practice guidelines.
  • A full, clean manual driving license valid in Ireland, enabling you to transport children and staff as required.
  • The right to live and work in Ireland, ensuring you can contribute to our services without restriction.
