As a Medical Technologist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care. Your primary responsibility will be to perform peripheral IV cannulation, phlebotomy and electrocardiography services to meet the needs of inpatients and outpatients.
Key Responsibilities:- To collect venous blood samples throughout the hospital for diagnostic testing and research purposes.
- Perform Peripheral Intravenous Cannulation as requested by medical staff in accordance with the hospital's IV cannulation policies.
- Obtain blood specimens as requested by medical staff in accordance with the hospital's Venepuncture and associated policies.
- Be competent to perform an Electro Cardiography tracing for all procedures.
- Candidates must possess professional qualifications and experience in phlebotomy, IV peripheral cannulation and electrocardiology.
- Alternatively, candidates can be registered or eligible for registration in the General Division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland.
- Or, candidates can be minimum a 2nd year Medical Student having completed relevant clinical skills of Phlebotomy and Cannulation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Basic life support skills.
The selected candidate will undergo a shortlisting process where further details of the role will be provided. The post holder may be required to perform other duties as appropriate to the post which may be assigned from time to time.
