Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Officer to join our team at the UCD School of Veterinary Medicine/Herd Health and Animal Husbandry. As a key member of our section, you will provide technical, training support and administrative assistance as needed. Your role will be based equally between UCD Lyons farm and/or UCD Belfield.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide research and teaching support to the section, focusing on reproductive biology, nutrition, and herd health.
- Develop and maintain expertise in hormone/metabolite analyses, feed analyses, and herd health data entry and analysis.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of animal handling, laboratory, and computer-based practical sessions.
- Collaborate with colleagues to achieve section goals and objectives.
Requirements: To succeed in this role, you must have relevant training, qualifications, and experience in endocrinology (hormone and metabolite analyses). Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with strong initiative and a high-quality work ethic, are essential. Prior experience in handling large animals such as cattle, sheep, and horses is also required.
