Meta is seeking a seasoned data protection expert to lead its legal team in the EMEA region. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of data protection laws and regulations, with experience advising on risk assessment and mitigation across technology product platforms.

The ideal candidate will be able to provide practical legal risk mitigation strategies for products across multiple jurisdictions, working closely with internal teams to ensure compliance and minimize regulatory risks. They will also be responsible for monitoring and responding to developments in data protection and relevant consumer laws, ensuring that Meta's products and services remain compliant.

A key aspect of this role will be coordinating with public policy and communications colleagues on external communication, policy development, and enforcement decisions. Additionally, the candidate will provide full service support to the wider legal team on European regulatory and litigation matters.

Responsibilities
  • Provide expert guidance on data protection laws and regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
  • Assess and mitigate risks associated with new technologies and products
  • Develop and implement effective compliance programs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of data protection considerations
