About the Opportunity

A leading organization in the renewable energy sector is seeking an experienced and motivated Environmental Development Specialist to join its growing Planning and Development team.

This role supports the delivery of planning applications and environmental assessments for a broad portfolio of renewable energy projects, including Strategic Infrastructure Developments (SID) and non-SID projects.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of Ireland's transition to a low-carbon future while coordinating multidisciplinary environmental teams and engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and submission of planning applications for renewable energy infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate the preparation of key environmental documentation such as EIA and AA Screenings, EIARs, and Natura Impact Statements (NIS).
  • Oversee baseline environmental assessments and manage input from internal and external technical experts.
  • Monitor and assess updates in planning and environmental legislation and policy, contributing to strategic submissions and internal planning activities.
  • Collaborate with community engagement teams to develop stakeholder consultation plans and participate in public outreach events.
  • Prepare detailed project specifications for third-party environmental consultants and assist with procurement processes.
  • Ensure strict compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental standards, in line with EU and national legislation.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Honours Degree (Level 8) in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field is essential.
  • A postgraduate qualification (Level 9) in Environmental Science, Planning Law, or a related discipline is desirable.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in supporting planning applications and environmental assessment processes.
  • Strong working knowledge of the EIA process and Irish planning legislation.
  • Experience with renewable energy and infrastructure projects, especially Strategic Infrastructure Development (SID), is highly advantageous.
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate multidisciplinary teams and complex project timelines.
  • Technical expertise in an EIA-related field (e.g., ecology, noise, air quality) is a plus.

What's on Offer

This is an exciting opportunity to work on nationally significant renewable energy projects. You'll have the chance to:

  • Contribute to team and organizational goals through active participation in performance and project management initiatives.

We offer a collaborative and mission-driven work environment, ongoing professional development and career growth opportunities, and a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
