Job Summary

As a Senior Estimator, you will be working alongside an experienced pre-construction team based in Kildare. You will co-ordinate with bid teams, colleagues in the estimating department and in the wider Pre-construction team.

You will manage and deliver cost estimates at various stages in scheme development, scope definition and design maturity to meet challenging timescales, including multiple iterations of budget and target prices.

You will contribute to optioneering and feasibility assessments, value engineering proposals, liaise with bid and project teams representing a range of disciplines to develop and refine proposals and budget costs through to final target price estimates.

Liaising with clients, designers and other consultants, quantity surveyors and other third parties is also required.

Responsibilities:
  • Organise and administer tender documents, correspondence, enquiries and quotations
  • Challenge and contribute to all aspects of the bid preparation and submission
  • Investigate safe and cost-effective solutions
  • Collect and distribute feedback and maintain awareness of latest techniques
  • Prepare cost estimates from first principles using Candy estimating software
Requirements

Level 8 Honours Bachelor Degree or equivalent level is required for this role. Suitable civil engineering project experience in management, engineering or commercial roles with contractors is also essential.

Proven estimating experience in civil engineering bids, particularly roads, bridges, rail, marine or water sectors, is preferred.

Demonstrable understanding of common forms of contract and methods of measurement used in the Irish market is also necessary.
