Relief Family Support Worker

 

The role of a Relief Family Support Worker is to provide in-home and community-based support to children with additional needs and their families.

 

We are seeking highly-motivated individuals to join our team in providing flexible family support services in Clare. The successful candidate will be required to work during evenings and weekends, supervised by and working closely with the Family Support & Respite Coordinator.

 

About the Role:

 

To provide in-home and community-based support to children with additional needs and their families. The service will be coordinated by the Family Support & Respite Coordinators, who will prioritize families to be involved in the service, and agree with each family the type and level of support to be provided.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-home and community-based support to children with additional needs and their families.
  • Work closely with the Family Support & Respite Coordinator to coordinate the service.
  • Supervise and manage the provision of support to families.
  • Prioritize families to be involved in the service.

 

Requirements:

 

A minimum QQI Level 5 Childcare course (total 8 modules) including module on special needs or Year 1 completed of a related degree programme (such as Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Psychology) or SNA Qualification or a relevant health care qualification.

 

A valid driving license.

 

Access to transport.

 

Eligibility to work in the state.

 

Desirable criteria include 1 year's experience of working with children with additional needs, holder of a full clean driving licence with no restrictions, and up-to-date Manual Handling, First Aid, Children First, Infection control, PPE Training.
