Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee staff, including bartenders, barbacks, bouncers, wait staff, and/or kitchen staff as well.
  • Ensure that the front-of-house is fully staffed, particularly during peak times.
  • Meet sales and profitability targets.
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers.
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality beverages are served to customers.
  • Deal with customer feedback and provide adequate solutions to customer complaints.
  • Create a positive work environment for staff and encourage their career development.
  • Monitor inventory of beverages to ensure adequate stock.
  • Hire, train, promote, and when necessary, discipline staff.
  • Select music, book bands, and provide input on décor and marketing, including social media and other forms of publicity.
  • Initiate and maintain vendor relationships.
  • Use point-of-sale tracking technology and bar and restaurant management platforms.
  • Oversee the cleanliness of staff and the physical bar area and pay attention to possible health hazards and regulation violations.
