Job Description

The role of Director of Technical Operations is to lead a team responsible for delivering operational and project success. The successful candidate will provide a hands-on leadership approach, driving efficiency and effectiveness in all areas.

Key responsibilities include developing and managing engineering project budgets, working closely with finance colleagues for accurate financial planning and management of costs. Ensuring safe working environments and regulatory compliance are core responsibilities of the role.

A key aspect of this position is driving continuous improvement by planning and managing Opex and selected Capex projects aimed at enhancing infrastructure, operational efficiency, and overall user experience.

Collaboration with architects, designers, contractors, and external stakeholders is essential for successful project delivery. Implementing systems and processes for efficient data retrieval and ensuring compliance with data security standards are also critical responsibilities.

This role requires excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills, as well as a high level of drive and energy. A proven track record of success in performance management and people development is essential.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates should have:

  • A minimum of a recognized qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or a related field to bachelor's degree level.
  • At least 12 years of engineering experience, with a minimum of 8 years in a team leadership or managerial role.
  • Experience in regulated, safety-critical, or complex operational environments is desirable.
  • Proven experience in project management.
  • Skilled user of engineering software, project management tools, MS Office, and BIM systems.
