HGV Specialist: Fleet Maintenance and Repair

About the RoleWe are seeking an HGV mechanic to work in our workshop at our Carrowbrowne Facility just outside Galway City. As a key member of our team, you will perform routine maintenance on our fleet, troubleshoot electrical and engine issues, and diagnose faults and malfunctions.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain our fleet in top condition through regular servicing and repairs.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical and engine problems using advanced diagnostic equipment.
- Diagnose faults and malfunctions, identifying root causes and implementing solutions.
- Perform 12-week safety inspections and pre-tests to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Provide training and guidance to apprentices, sharing your expertise and knowledge.
- Utilize hand and power tools related to motor vehicle service and repair.
- Complete job reports using computer or tablet systems.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to health and safety procedures.
- Work on a diverse range of vehicles and trailers, from trucks to caravans.
- Ability to diagnose complex malfunctions and faults.
- Attention to detail and ability to identify potential problems.
- Problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and implement solutions.
- Knowledge of wiring and electrical systems.
- Experience operating diagnostic equipment, including multi-meter and oscilloscope.
- Understanding of methods of preventive maintenance and general maintenance practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of the waste management industry, although not essential for this role.
- Qualified HGV mechanic with experience repairing truck fleets or similar.
