Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Cork, Ireland. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire mechanical design process and serving as a technical expert on specialized design projects within the Pharmaceutical, Biotech, and Medical Device industries.

The ideal candidate will have 15 years of engineering experience with at least 10 years of doing mechanical designs on industrial, light industrial, or large-scale commercial projects. A Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required, along with around 5 years of central utility plant design experience related to chilled water, condenser water, hot water, and steam systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess project requirements, break projects into tasks, and work with Project Managers to determine the scope of work while overseeing budget and staffing.
  • Write scopes of work for mechanical designs based on preliminary review and client meetings.
  • Prepare engineering studies and schematic designs for new mechanical systems and analyze the operation of existing systems.
  • Work with code officials and other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to building codes is required.
  • Assign and review the work of the project design teams.
  • Ability to perform target cost design work when projects have initial target construction costs.
  • Cordinaate all aspects of project document completion within IPS, externally with clients, and with other relevant design professionals.
  • Ability to develop mechanical discipline-specific construction budgets based on the project scope.
