Electrical Design Specialist

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Specialist to provide electrical and safety design expertise to our equipment engineering department in the design, manufacture, documentation, and continuous improvement of medical devices.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop high-quality electrical designs that meet manufacturing, safety, CE, and performance requirements.
  • Ensure potential safety risks are addressed and ensure equipment meets CE marking standards through proactive and continuous assessments.
  • Collaborate closely with internal engineers to understand their equipment requirements and work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Work with internal and external machine build vendors to ensure equipment is built according to specifications and properly handed over to manufacturing.
  • Deliver equipment solutions within planned schedules and meet quality requirements through effective project management.
  • Maintain compliance to all documentation/drawing standards for equipment by ensuring they meet company requirements.
  • As part of the design team, this person will work closely with both internal and external specialists to complete equipment-related projects.
  • Implement quality into all aspects of work through adherence to quality requirements.
  • Participate in and lead the use of lean and continuous improvement tools in equipment designs and engineering systems.
  • Support continuous improvement activities and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to the equipment build team.
  • Identify and collate opportunities for process improvement, cost savings, and quality enhancements.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification with a minimum of 3 years' experience in the design and build of equipment for the medical device industry.
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD Electrical and design of pneumatic circuits.
  • Proven ability to design and commission electrical and pneumatic control panels for automated equipment.
  • Proven ability to assess and remediate equipment safety issues.
  • Good technical capabilities, teamwork abilities, and initiative.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team & on own with minimum supervision.
  • Good communication skills combined with an imaginative and creative approach to problem solving.

Working Conditions:

  • The role will involve working on-site in a manufacturing support environment.
  • There may be a requirement as part of the role to travel to other sites.
  • Standard working hours are Monday to Friday; however, weekend work may be required on occasion.
