University College Dublin (UCD) invites applications for the position of Interim Head of Special Collections, a key leadership role within UCD Library. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Special Collections unit through a period of transition and development, as we prepare to launch our new Cultural Heritage Centre.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and establishing this centre, which will bring together UCD's three world-class cultural heritage repositories: UCD Special Collections, UCD Archives, and the National Folklore Collection. As Interim Head, you will oversee the strategic direction of the Special Collections unit, ensuring that it continues to deliver high-quality services to researchers, students, and staff at UCD.

Our library provides access to a wide range of resources, including books, journals, databases, and digital collections. We also offer research support services, study spaces, and collaborative work environments.

About the Role

This is a fixed-term appointment, expected to last for approximately 12 months. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Special Collections unit during this period, overseeing the planning and establishment of the new Cultural Heritage Centre. You will work closely with colleagues across UCD Library and other stakeholders to ensure a seamless transition and the delivery of high-quality services.

  • Lead the Special Collections unit during a period of transition and development

Please note that this is a full-time position, working 35 hours per week. Salary will be on scale €69,341 - €110,099 per annum. Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
