Job Summary

This key position in a multi-disciplinary engineering team oversees the progression of water and wastewater infrastructure projects from project brief to detailed design and construction.

The role involves leading a design team and appointed consultants through all aspects of the design scope, with responsibilities including:

  • Developing hydraulic, energy, and mechanical calculations as part of the detailed design.
  • Evaluating specifications, drawings, and contract documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Representing the organization at design review workshops and HAZOPs, ensuring timely closure of resulting actions.
  • Providing a comprehensive review of final design and contract documentation with constructive feedback.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to develop cost estimates for both design and construction phases.
  • Creating work packages and scopes for sub-contractors.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, applicants should possess:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar position within the water and wastewater industry.
  • Expertise in civil and process engineering works such as temporary works, bulk earthworks, tank systems, building works, process units, and M&E installations.
  • A Level 8 Honours Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Excellent collaboration skills with clients and their representatives to lead and develop design solutions.
  • Familiarity with programme management software such as Microsoft Project.
  • The ability to create baseline programmes and updates.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit, problem-solving skills, and adaptability to address issues during project delivery.
  • Strong communication skills with high motivation.
  • A full driving license.
