Job Description

This role is a key part of our buying team, responsible for sourcing products and negotiating with suppliers. You will work closely with the Senior Buyer to secure the best terms and build strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Using insights and trend research, you will help determine which brands perform well and recommend future ranges. This involves assisting with budget and margin targets, range planning, and day-to-day operations in the beauty division.

The responsibilities of this role are varied and include setting mark-up targets, markdown rates, and selling prices to achieve gross margin goals. You will also prepare weekly trade updates, analyze sales data, and recommend actions.

In addition, you will be responsible for pre-season planning, including pulling wash-up notes, research, and building OTB sheets. You will also plan buying trips and appointments, ensuring preparation and relevant data collection.

You will attend trade shows and supplier meetings, recording actions and following up. Summarizing market trends from appointments is also an important aspect of this role.

Beyond these core responsibilities, you will be building storyboards, seasonal calendars, and presentations to communicate trends and product details. Managing debit notes and supporting supplier support activities is also part of the job.

Coordinating with the Buyers Assistant to ensure product availability and smooth critical path execution is essential. Monitoring market activity, sales, and trends is also crucial in this role.

Collaboration with Marketing and Online teams to develop marketing strategies and online ranges is another key responsibility. Supporting the wider buying team with seasonal product presentations is also required.

Maintaining product data in the merchandise management system is vital to the success of this role. Working with Finance to manage supplier setups is also an important task.

Ultimately, you will be taking responsibility for your own category, including range building, assortment planning, negotiations, and stock management. Supportive of stock replenishment to optimize stock levels, you will also be developing and mentoring buying assistants within the division.
