Salary

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary with increments, ranging from €14.50 to €16.50 per hour, including Sunday premium pay and bank holiday pay.

Job Description

Purpose of the Role

The primary objective of this post is to provide care and support through a person-centred approach, meeting the practical, physical, and emotional needs of residents with an intellectual disability/ABI/Autism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work under the direction of the Unit/Centre Manager to ensure high standards of care are maintained.
  • Provide individualised support using a facilitative approach to personal care, ensuring residents' dignity and respect at all times.
  • Enable residents to eat a well-balanced diet by supporting meal preparation and promoting personal choice.
  • Assist and promote good personal care skills, e.g., toileting, bathing/showering.
  • Facilitate residents to take an active part in their community, supporting trips/excursions outside normal working hours.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Fetac Level 5 Health Care Major Award or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a care environment.
  • Good knowledge of cognitive rehabilitation principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of National Disability Standards (HIQA).

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience providing care for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • Experience working in a rehabilitation setting.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Completed Intellectual Disability Module as part of Fetac 5 Major Award.
