This is a critical role that demands an Investment Modelling Specialist to enhance our ability to rigorously evaluate commercial prospects, quantify risks and returns, and ensure investment decisions are grounded in robust financial analysis.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing comprehensive business cases, creating detailed financial models, and preparing high-quality investment packs for internal approvals and external review.
This position requires a strong analytical mindset, advanced financial skills, and excellent communication abilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring market trends, tracking competitor activity, and providing regular updates on market outlook and implications for the organization's investment pipeline.
The selected individual will also act as a liaison with external advisors and stakeholders, ensuring seamless engagement and collaboration. A deep understanding of Irish and EU energy markets, relevant policy frameworks, and regulatory bodies is essential for this role.
In addition, the successful candidate will possess a structured approach to managing complex projects, competing priorities, and multiple deadlines. Experience with government-facing investment processes and familiarity with renewable energy, grid infrastructure, and policy frameworks such as RESS and CfD are highly desirable.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Education:
- Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Postgraduate or professional qualification (e.g., CFA, ACA, MBA) is an advantage.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5+ years' proven experience in business case development, financial modelling, or commercial strategy, ideally within the energy, infrastructure, or regulated sectors.
- Experience preparing investment appraisals and business cases for senior leadership or governance committees.
- Familiarity with government-facing investment processes (e.g., NewERA, NTMA) is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills:
- Advanced financial and analytical skills, with demonstrated ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Strong quantitative and modelling capability, with experience applying sensitivity/scenario analysis and investment evaluation techniques.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the preparation of board-level materials and presentations.
