Nursing Specialist for Respiratory Care

This is a challenging role within the Respiratory Integrated Care team who are currently undertaking a Virtual Ward Project.

The post would require cover from Monday to Friday in a community environment with no weekends or bank holidays included.

You will be based in Letterkenny but may need to travel within Donegal as the service is operational in all 4 locations throughout the county.

Our team assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing and respiratory care. We monitor and manage patient symptoms. The successful candidate will be involved in the analysis of remote monitoring of clinical data to identify potential issues and provide early intervention.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessing and planning individualised patient-centred care virtually and face-to-face when required.
  • Providing open-access telephone support to patients and families.
  • Maintaining links and communicating effectively with community services through the multidisciplinary team, patient and family to ensure continuity of patient care.
  • Referring to other services as necessary and signposting to other support services.
  • Discussing discharge planning and ongoing care.

Skill Requirements:

  • A strong nursing background with expertise in respiratory care.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
