Senior Jigsaw Clinician Role Summary

This is a mid-senior level full-time position based in our Laois/Offaly service. The successful candidate will have a doctorate or equivalent qualification in Clinical/Counselling/Educational Psychology, or registration with An Bord Altranais as a Mental Health Nurse, CORU as a Social Worker or Occupational Therapist, or accreditation by the Irish Council for Psychotherapy or the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

The primary responsibilities of this role include undertaking initial mental health assessments with young people, providing evidence-informed brief therapeutic interventions, conducting risk assessments and implementing risk management plans, and deputising for the Clinical Manager in their absence. Additionally, the Senior Clinician will provide clinical consultation and guidance to Jigsaw Clinicians, assume leadership responsibilities, and participate in clinical supervision and line management meetings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake initial mental health assessments with young people focusing on both strengths and difficulties.
  • Provide evidence-informed brief therapeutic interventions to young people.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement risk management plans as appropriate.
  • Deputise for the Clinical Manager in their absence and/or as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need a minimum of three years' full-time experience working in health and social care settings, therapeutic or related organisational settings to support people with their mental health needs. You will also require strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to reflect on practice in order to facilitate personal learning, professional development and service improvement, and effective presentation and facilitation skills.
