Database Systems Specialist

This is a challenging opportunity to work on configuring, maintaining and optimizing databases to meet business needs. As a Database Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for planning, implementing and managing database systems to ensure they are running efficiently and effectively.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Configuring and maintaining databases according to business strategy
  • Engaging in capacity planning exercises to ensure sufficient system resources
  • Monitoring database performance and troubleshooting issues
  • Applying updates to production and non-production environments
  • Managing user access and permissions
  • Performing regular backups and verifying restores
  • Participating in Change Control processes for all planned applications and technical activities

Requirements:
  • Degree qualified in a relevant field (Data Science or STEM subject) or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of the Linux operating system
  • Ability to create, understand and follow processes to ensure successful execution of critical maintenance tasks

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with Epic Systems
  • RDBMS Certification preferably Microsoft SQL Server
  • Strong Linux administration skills, including experience with command line tools, scripting and troubleshooting
