The Opportunity
We are seeking a candidate interested in joining our Specialist Technology, Analytics and Research team.
This role involves developing technical expertise in wind, climate hazards and risk, microclimate and urban physics.
As a Junior Climate and Wind Consultant at Arup, you will:
- Conduct studies on the impact of different climate and wind conditions on buildings and outdoor comfort
- Use climate data and models to inform hazard and impact analyses of buildings and assets
- Collaborate with other engineers and risk consultants on innovative projects
- Work closely with in-house specialists to find unique solutions for clients' challenges
- Prepare technical reports and presentation documents
About You
We are looking for candidates who:
- Are currently pursuing or have recently graduated with a Master's or PhD Degree in Building Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture or related disciplines
- Have a fundamental knowledge of computational modelling (CFD, WRF or building and environmental physics tools)
- Have basic understanding of climate risk for the built environment
- Experience creating or adapting coding scripts (Python, GIS, etc.) for data processing and visualization

- Interest in developing skills on wind modelling (CFD or wind tunnel testing) and/or climate modelling
- Experience or familiarity with the built environment (buildings, transportation infrastructure, etc.)
