Medical Device Development Engineer

The Medical Device Development Engineer will support the planning and execution of medical device development, including preparing and reviewing technical documentation, collaborating with component suppliers, working with functional engineering teams to create detailed product designs, and supporting products throughout their lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Generate innovative medical device concepts within project teams to meet performance criteria.
  • Design, build, and test prototypes; analyze results to identify optimal solutions to technical challenges.
  • Create detailed component and assembly drawings/specifications using CAD software (e.g., Autodesk Fusion).
  • Select materials, define assembly methods, and set process parameters to ensure product reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, software) to ensure seamless integration of components and systems.
  • Liaise with external vendors and resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Write technical procedures, protocols, and reports; maintain detailed documentation of design iterations, test results, and project progress.
  • Understand end-user techniques and clinical needs to support product training material development.
  • Conduct research on new technologies, materials, and methodologies relevant to product development goals.
  • Use engineering principles and simulation tools to design and optimize product components and systems.
  • Communicate project status, challenges, and solutions effectively to team members and management.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in research and development.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Management System requirements.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Honours degree in Mechanical, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience across all stages of medical device design and development, including CAD design (SolidWorks), prototyping, and testing.
