The role of Fire Safety Officer, Grade VII involves ensuring the organization is fully compliant with current building regulations and fire safety legislation.

This includes facilitating compliance with corporate fire safety policies and site-specific fire management plans, as well as providing specialist advice and guidance on fire safety matters to relevant staff members.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring Compliance - To guarantee that the organization adheres to the latest Building Regulations, Fire Safety Legislation, Health, and Safety Legislation.
  • Facilitating Compliance - To ensure that corporate Fire Safety Policy and site-specific Fire Management Plans are implemented effectively within the organization.
  • Providing Specialist Advice - To offer expert guidance on fire safety matters to senior management, Heads of Departments, supervisors, and staff.

Required skills and qualifications for this role include:

  • A CPD accredited Certification or Diploma in Fire Safety Management is essential.
  • Knowledge of fire prevention measures, fire protection systems, fire mitigation and suppression techniques, emergency response protocols, building design, construction specifications, and evacuation procedures is crucial.
  • A thorough understanding of various fire protection systems, including fire alarms, sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, smoke control systems, and emergency lighting is necessary.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Building Regulations, Fire Services Acts 2013 and 2018, and the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2019 is required.

In addition to the above-mentioned requirements, excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills, are necessary. The ability to work to deadlines, work independently, and as part of a team is also essential.

The ideal candidate will be able to provide evidence of their ability to deal with service users and colleagues across all sites in a compassionate and supportive manner, with an emphasis on high-level customer service.

The selected candidate will also demonstrate a willingness to attend further training as required to remain up-to-date with fire safety requirements.
