About the Role

Monument Re Group is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to provide support for key infrastructure and application services.

The ideal candidate will manage and maintain our SQL Server estate, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. They will administer and maintain SQL Server databases across on-premises and Azure VM environments.

We are looking for a highly organized individual with strong prioritization skills, a lateral thinking approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work and make smart decisions independently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain SQL Server databases (Standard Edition) across on-premises and Azure VM environments.
  • Manage SSIS & SSRS.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, connectivity problems, and other technical challenges.
  • Make independent decisions to address critical database issues and implement solutions effectively.
  • Collaborate with other teams.
  • Maintain documentation of the SQL Server estate.
  • Proactively monitor database health, identify potential issues, and implement preventive measures.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA.
  • Proven track record of managing a SQL Server estate, including backups, disaster recovery, and performance optimization.
  • Experience working with SQL Server on Azure VMs.
  • Familiarity with Azure cloud services beyond VMs, such as Azure SQL Database or Azure Data Factory.
  • Experience with Agile or DevOps methodologies.
  • Industry recognized qualifications advantageous.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to prioritize work efficiently and effectively.
