About Our Team

We are a national service that transcribes educational material for students with visual impairments. Our mission is to provide inclusive and accessible education.

We have vacancies for Text Editors within our Reading Services team. This role involves producing educational materials for primary and secondary level students. We are looking for a self-motivated person who enjoys working as part of a team and supporting inclusive and accessible education.

Full training will be provided to all new team members. No prior knowledge of braille is required. We run a Learn Braille course for learning to read and write braille by sight, and successful candidates will be enrolled and supported in this course.

We also support a Children's and Resource Library service and Assistive Technology use with our students.

Requirements
  • Excellent command of English grammar and spelling.
  • Highest attention to detail.
  • High level of computer literacy, preferably ECDL or equivalent level.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Good organisational skills for dealing with high workload rotas.
  • Good knowledge of the Irish education system at both primary and secondary school level.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
