- Developing, implementing, and managing health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures across the company – manufacturing plants, construction sites, and professional services offices.
- Overall responsibility for the health and safety of the organisation, including direction, strategic development, performance, and maintenance.
- Acting as the Responsible Person for all HSE matters, identifying and responding to current legal and best practice requirements.
- Creating initiatives to reduce and prevent accidents across the company.
- Assessing risk and ensuring compliance with legal guidelines.
- Investigating incidents and providing recommendations for improvement.
- Working proactively and engaging with managers and other key employees to establish and maintain a programme of continuous improvement in the delivery of HSE and wellbeing.
- Working closely with the HSE Team to ensure compliance requirements are being controlled, documented, and maintained in accordance with regulations and guidelines.
- Ensuring that rigorous risk assessment and incident management systems are in place and followed across the organisation.
- Reviewing and developing risk assessments for factory activities, including chemical assessments, manual handling, noise, DSE, abrasive wheels, work at height, confined spaces, and other statutory requirements.
- Liaising with HR on health and wellbeing issues, particularly where a risk assessment has identified a need, including supporting HR and line managers in carrying out individual risk assessments when required.
- Implementing, coaching, and maintaining HSE procedures, programmes, and management systems to the ISO 14001 & ISO45001 standards.
- A third-level qualification in a relevant discipline with extensive experience in HSE.
- Experience in completing health and safety management audits against ISO 45001 and implementing action plans to meet audit findings.
- Experience in training, coaching, and mentoring to develop health and safety knowledge and expertise.
- Comprehensive knowledge of current HSE legislation, management, and standards.
- The ability to interpret and provide authoritative advice on health and safety and risk management issues.
- NB: The ideal candidate will possess one or more of the following qualifications: NEBOSH Health and Safety Certificate, General or Construction NVQ Occupational Health and Safety, NEBOSH Environmental Diploma, PTTLS or Train the Trainer.
