Job Title: Mental Health and Community Support Specialist

Description:
The role of the Mental Health and Community Support Specialist is to provide support to individuals with mental health needs, promote positive mental wellbeing, and prevent the deterioration of existing mental and emotional distress. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mental health principles and experience working in a community setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one support to individuals with mild/moderate mental health needs, enabling them to better understand and manage their mental health through prevention and early intervention.
  • Facilitate group sessions on topics such as mindfulness, stress reduction, and problem-solving skills.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans to promote mental wellbeing and reduce risk factors for mental health issues.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals, including social workers, counselors, and healthcare providers, to ensure a comprehensive approach to supporting individuals with mental health needs.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date on best practices in mental health and community support.


Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • A 3rd level qualification in Mental Health or Social Work.
  • At least 3 years' experience working in a mental health or community support setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and respond to changing circumstances.
  • Strong knowledge of mental health principles and theories.
