Seabirds are facing significant threats in Northern Ireland, including invasive mammal populations that compromise their habitats and survival. As a Project Manager for this ambitious programme, you will be responsible for driving the implementation of biosecurity measures and restoration work on Rathlin Island and other key locations.

About the Role
  • You will lead a dedicated team to deliver biosecurity interventions, tern monitoring, and public engagement initiatives to safeguard internationally important seabird colonies.
  • Extend biosecurity and restoration efforts across other islands to ensure safe nesting habitats for terns, contributing to the recovery of these vulnerable species.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Managing a team to implement biosecurity interventions, tern monitoring, and public engagement activities.
  • Coordinating cross-sector collaboration with project partners, public agencies, researchers, and local communities to achieve shared conservation goals.
  • Developing an All-Ireland Tern Action Plan to guide long-term protection and recovery of tern species through evidence-based management and policy recommendations.
  • Driving the integration of biosecurity and restoration best practices into wider marine conservation policy and planning frameworks.

This is a unique opportunity to influence seabird conservation across Northern Ireland and on an All-Ireland scale - delivering innovative science, sharing best practice internationally, and ensuring a brighter future for vulnerable marine species.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Be part of a collaborative effort with stakeholders from various sectors.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based conservation strategies.
