Job Description

A Chief Medical Officer will be responsible for leading the development of high-quality, safe patient care strategies within our organization.

  • Oversee the framework for monitoring delivery of high-quality patient care across departments.
  • Manage fitness for work of employees, especially those in safety-critical positions.
  • Administer welfare and well-being services to all employees.
  • Develop medical standards for fitness to work across various job roles with emphasis on critical positions.
  • Manage administration of primary general practitioner services for employees and their families.
  • Interpret and report results of drug and alcohol testing programs as a medical review officer.
  • Support organizational safety management systems.
  • Advise management on statutory compliance with employee health and safety regulations.
  • Provide health promotion services to all employees through our occupational health unit.
  • Liaise with national and international organizations to maintain best practices.
  • Offer specialist advice on medical ill health retirement and provide professional guidance in statutory arenas.
Requirements
  • Hold a primary qualification in medicine from a recognized university or institution.
  • Be a member of the Irish College of General Practitioners, Royal College of Physicians of Ireland or equivalent.
  • Join the Faculty of Occupational Medicine, Royal College of Physicians of Ireland or equivalent.
  • Be listed on the Specialist Register of the Medical Council of Ireland in Occupational Medicine.
  • Hold fellowship of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine, Royal College of Physicians of Ireland or equivalent.
  • Have experience and knowledge in occupational health and safety legislation.
